The Role
We're looking for a Data Architect to work within our consultancy team, covering technical delivery across data storage, ingestion, integration, warehousing, preparation, and cloud infrastructure. The core purpose of the role is to create robust, scalable data architecture in the cloud that supports our clients' data-driven goals — ensuring data security and compliance, optimising costs, and enabling efficient data processing and analysis, primarily on Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate deep expertise in enterprise-level data analytics solutions end-to-end, with a focus on Lakehouse architecture and ML/AI-driven analytics
- Apply domain knowledge to recommend best practices and innovative architectures for modern data platforms
- Build strong working relationships with clients, presenting deliverables and proof-of-concept demonstrations with confidence
- Inform client data strategy and encourage adoption of best practice, with the confidence to challenge clients and colleagues on delivery approach or the content of deliverables
- Gather requirements from stakeholders with a range of technical backgrounds
- Take accountability for the delivery of solutions that meet and exceed client expectations
- Deliver to agreed plans and timelines, maintaining high standards of architecture, performance, and security
- Contribute to the Architecture Practice, helping develop standard architecture patterns and reusable resources
- Understand the offerings and capabilities of cloud platforms to select the most suitable tools for data storage, processing, and analysis
- Engage at all levels of a client's business, from senior and C-level leadership through to guiding IT specialists and developers on solution build and implementation
- Design and implement cloud-native systems, including rebuilding existing systems on the cloud
- Lead architectural engagements, either directly or as part of a larger programme, owning delivery of customer value within budget, time, and scope
- Present concisely and articulately to both technical and non-technical audiences

Pre-Sales Activities (Desirable)
- Contribute to RFI/RFP requests, including discovery input, target-state architecture, and delivery approach
- Design and deliver innovative Proofs of Concept for prospective and existing clients
Essential Experience
- Proven experience as a Data Architect within a consultancy or professional services environment
- Several years of experience in data analytics, consulting, or a related field
- Proficient with data modelling approaches including 3NF and Kimball
- Excellent understanding and hands-on experience implementing Modern Data Warehouse architectures
- Experience with back-end Azure data engineering technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Synapse
- Proficient in designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions using Microsoft Fabric
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, including SQL, Cosmos DB, and Kusto Query Language (KQL)
- Solid experience of data pipeline development using both cloud and on-premises data sources
- Solid understanding of key processes across the engineering delivery cycle
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- A strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies

- Experience supporting pre-sales activity, including solutioning, estimation, or proposal input
- Data governance principles, including Microsoft Purview
- Azure infrastructure and networking experience
- Broader Microsoft Fabric solution design and implementation experience
- Databricks experience
- Exposure to Machine Learning and AI
- Python data engineering experience
- DevOps experience
- Power BI semantic modelling
- Relevant certifications: Microsoft Certified Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, DP-203/700 Azure Data Engineering, or AZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect
