Data Architect (Contractor)

Data Architect (Contractor) – United Kingdom

This high-impact, short-term contract role focuses on designing and delivering a unified data and analytics platform that consolidates fragmented music industry data into a single, queryable system using BigQuery.

You will define the architecture connecting revenue, royalties, audience, and operational datasets into a coherent data warehouse. This demanding role requires deep expertise in data modeling, system integration, and entity resolution across inconsistent sources while working closely with engineers, business stakeholders, and executives to translate business needs into scalable data structures.

Key focus areas:

  • Resolving conflicting data across platforms.
  • Establishing trusted metrics and governance rules.
  • Ownership of architectural decisions in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Ideal for someone who enjoys scaling complex integration challenges.

Accountabilities

  • Design & own the end-to-end data warehouse architecture in BigQuery, including:
    • Schema design
    • Transformation layers
    • Semantic conventions
    • Access patterns
  • Lead cross-system data integration efforts, including:
    • Entity resolution
    • Aggregation and reconciliation
    • Handling inconsistent identifiers/data formats across multiple external platforms
  • Define business metric logic, source-of-truth rules, and exception handling frameworks in collaboration with finance, marketing, operations, and executive stakeholders
  • Lead a small delivery team of engineers/contractors to implement:
    • Data pipelines
    • Transformation logic
    • Analytics-ready datasets
  • Establish data quality, testability, observability, and monitoring standards to ensure reliability and trust across the analytics platform
  • Evaluate and select transformation tools (e.g., dbt, SQLMesh, Dataform) with clear trade-off decisions based on system needs
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data models and enforce architectural consistency across downstream analytics/reporting systems

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
