Senior Technology Architect / Data Architect
Location: London, UK (Hybrid – Up to 10 days onsite per month)
Duration: 6 Months
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technology Architect / Data Architect to design, build, and optimize scalable data platforms that support modern analytics and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Databricks, Apache Spark, Kafka, AWS, and modern Data Lake architectures, with experience integrating legacy enterprise systems into cloud-native environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable batch and streaming data pipelines.
- Build and maintain AWS-based Data Lake solutions using Amazon S3.
- Develop data transformation pipelines using Databricks, Spark, PySpark, and Spark SQL.
- Implement real-time data ingestion using Confluent Kafka / Apache Kafka.
- Integrate enterprise data sources including DB2 (Mainframe) and SQL Server.
- Design and implement Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Build reusable, domain-driven data products aligned with Data Mesh principles.
- Ensure data quality, governance, security, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, platform teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions.

Required Skills
- 10+ years of Data Architecture or Technology Architecture experience.
- Strong expertise in Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark, and Spark SQL.
- Experience building Data Lake/Lakehouse solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka / Confluent Kafka.
- Experience with AWS, particularly Amazon S3.
- Strong experience integrating DB2 (Mainframe) and SQL Server.
- Experience designing scalable batch and streaming pipelines.
- Strong understanding of Data Mesh, Data Products, and modern data engineering practices.

Preferred Skills
- Banking or Financial Services experience.
- Knowledge of Data Governance, Metadata Management, and Regulatory Reporting.
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud data platforms.
