Senior Operations Technician

Job Summary
This role involves working on moderately complex assignments, applying substantial technical knowledge to resolve issues or recommend solutions. Your focus will be on maintaining and improving facility and infrastructure systems, operating independently with minimal oversight on routine tasks.
Your responsibilities will span:
- Facility/Infrastructure Maintenance (Preventative & Corrective Work)
- Site Administration & Incident Management
- Vendor Coordination & Technical Documentation
- Collaboration & Work Order Management
- Basic Project Support
Normally, you’ll receive only general instructions on new tasks.
Responsibilities
Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance—moderately complex checks, repairs, installations, and inspections on facility components and systems.
- Monitor the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolve moderately difficult alarm issues, using judgement and standard procedures.
- Support and implement energy efficiency measures.
- Operate and maintain critical systems, including:
- Plumbing and fire suppression systems
- Safety systems
- Complete daily tasks with limited instruction, demonstrating thorough understanding of standard operating procedures and procedures.

Vendor Support
- Coordinate vendor approvals for moderately complex maintenance work (work order briefings, progress checks, and final validation).
- Ensure vendors comply with Equinix’s standard operating procedures.
- Work with vendors to update technical documentation for infrastructure (e.g., plant modifications).
- Track and update records to ensure documentation remains accurate and up-to-date.
Site Administration & Incident Support
- Maintain site logs for permits, scripts, and procedures (including Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs)).
- Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and propose recommendations for improvements.
- Respond to on-site incidents—troubleshoot failures, operational issues, and delays—applying substantial operational knowledge.
- Support general site logistics and admin solutions, in line with established operating procedures.
Work Orders & Additional Projects
- Completes routine work requests and basic circuit installations.
- Troubleshoot and maintain office equipment (if required) and auxiliary machines to minimize/avoid downtime.
- Make minor adaptations to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems as directed.
- Execute small infrastructure projects and assist with associated tasks.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively to resolve moderately difficult facility and incident challenges.
- Mentor team members on general maintenance procedures and activities.
- Support stakeholders with inventory needs to ensure critical spares and materials are available.
- Recommend infrastructure optimizations or projects based on identified needs.
Qualifications & Experience
Typical Educational & Experience Levels
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required
- Proven years of hands-on experience in relevant technical, maintenance, or operations roles.
- Right to work in the U.S. (if applicable—noted at the end of this role description).
