Lead Critical Facilities Engineer (Data Center Specialist) – UK Operations
Job Summary
We’re excited to announce an opportunity for a highly skilled Data Center Specialist to join our UK Operations team. This day-time role involves delivering innovative concepts and techniques to evolve our Data Centre operations. As an ambassador for your site and campus, you will engage with UK and global stakeholders to continuously improve facility performance and customer experience.
This is the ideal role for someone who thrives on tackling complex assignments, possesses the skills for leadership and independent action, and can drive change and develop groundbreaking ideas.
Responsibilities
Management & People
- Serve as the second port of call for data centre managers and supervisors when unavailable
- Support Data Centre managers and site supervisors in day-to-day operations and coordination

Site Operations & Project Management
- Actively participate in phase build activities and switching schedules to meet project timelines
- Take ownership of writing, planning, and scheduling major project work
- Liaise with vendors to coordinate timelines, secure necessary dates, and ensure customer notifications
- Oversee vendor deliveries, sittings, and scheduling
Customer Interaction
- Acquire a customer-facing role alongside the Critical Facilities Engineer (CFE) supervisor/manager
- Attend and contribute to Customer MBRs (Maintenance & Business Reviews) and other key customer meetings
- Act as the escalation point for major incidents
Incident Management
- Provide technical support during incidents by directing teams to failed components and guiding responses
- Collaborate closely with supervisors and Data Centre Managers during incidents to coordinate efforts
- Offer technical advisement across all team levels, from apprentices to senior engineers
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the hiring process as a technical assessor during interviews
- Operate within a Monday–Friday schedule with the flexibility to assist during incidents or support team needs
- Recognised for delivering significant technical value and providing broad team support

Requirements
- Proven technical leadership: Confident in directing teams, troubleshooting complex issues, and resolving incidents
- Project management expertise: Strong organisational skills with experience in planning, scheduling, and vendor management; ability to liaise effectively with customers
- Collaborative mindset: Approachable, supportive, and capable of mentoring apprentices to senior team members
- Customer engagement: Experience with MBRs (Maintenance & Business Reviews), key customer meetings, and serving as a contact point
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, taking responsibility for technical oversight as needed
- Flexibility & problem-solving: Ready to assist the wider management team and offer cost-effective solutions
