About the Role: DATA CENTRE JUNIOR SHIFT TECHNICIAN
A dynamic opportunity to contribute to a critical, high-impact function in one of the world’s most advanced data centre environments. This role offers hands-on experience in systems monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance, combined with continued training and development from industry experts.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves proactive operational support, technical maintenance, and adherence to stringent protocols. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Training: Whilst kick-starting your career by shadowing and assisting experienced technicians, various induction, training, and upskilling programs will be provided.
- Facility Monitoring:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain electrical systems, HVAC systems, and building monitoring controls.
- Respond to alarms from EPMS (Energy/Power Management System), BMS (Building Management System), and fire safety systems in a timely manner.
- Emergency & Maintenance Support:
- Conduct preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on medium- and low-voltage high-availability power systems.
- Deploy root-cause analysis for anomalies in operational systems and environmental conditions (e.g., load, temperature, capacity).
- Health & Safety:
- Induct and permit external subcontractors to work on-site.
- Ensure compliance with HAZARD reporting, escalation protocols, and Incident Reporting procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised workshop/document library at all times.
- Documentation & Policy Compliance:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of site-specific operational procedures, including:
- Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs)
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOPs)
- After-parts scenarios (APs)
- Emergency drill exercises
- Contribute to the development and implementation of site-specific operational procedures, including:
- Quality & Accountability:
- Strict adherence to quality, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.

Qualifications, Experience & Attributes
Essential Criteria
- Fully or near-fully verifiable trade qualification in a relevant mechanical or electrical engineering discipline (or candidates with a strong desire to pursue qualification).
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts (including nights) with flexibility for emergency cover.
- Experience in site maintenance, facility management (FM), or critical operations (preferably data centre-related).
- Strong energy levels, self-starters, and ability to prioritise effectively in fast-paced, business-critical environments.
- Linear and analytical problem-solver with attenion to detail and a methodical diagnostic approach to diagnosing faults and implementing repairs.
- Keen desire to learn, listen to direction, and grow within the team.
Technical & Competency Skills
- Basic knowledge of LV (Low Voltage) power distribution.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word) for reporting/monitoring trends (load, capacity, environmental data).
- Proactive communication:
- Deep proficiency in reporting irregularities to leadership, contractors, and on-site clients.
- Flawless written and verbal communication for collaboration with incident repair crews, operations teams, and management.
