CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Shift Manager to join the team located in Slough.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Controlling and supervising work tasks for planned and reactive maintenance
- Liaising with Engineering management and client personnel to ensure all maintenance work aligns with site policies, procedures, and health and safety legislative requirements
- Operating as an Authorised person and ensuring compliance with company policies, safe system of work protocols, and all necessary safety documentation
Whilst on site, this role acts as the primary point of contact for the work effort, ensuring:
- Teams coordinate activities safely and efficiently
- Tasks are completed within site-specific timeframes and to a high standard
Role Summary
- Ensure routine maintenance of building plant, equipment, and systems to meet or exceed service level agreements
- Respond to Building Management System alarms and carry out emergency repairs as required
- Issue and supervise Permit to Work controls, ensuring vendors comply
- Oversee creation, utilisation, and compliance with:
- Switching schedules
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs)
- Safe System of Work (SSOW)
- Maintain cooling systems and domestic water systems to meet L8 standards
- Ensure suitable spares are stocked for maintenance tasks
- Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for in-house tasks, ensuring adherence to safe working practices
- Supervise subcontractor engineers to ensure alignment with contractual obligations and site processes
- Develop strong relationships with CBRE staff and client personnel
- Preserve a safe and healthy environment by adhering to company and client policies and working arrangements
- Promote professionalism and customer service excellence to clients and visitors
- Maintain professional development and lifelong-learning commitments
- Manage stocks of spares and consumables, adhering to storage and issue controls
- Lead the technical direction of shift teams
- Ensure work packs include all required documentation, including reviewing Subcontractor RAMS (Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permits to Work)
- Oversee engineer performance, development, training alignment, and periodic objective reviews
- Guarantee engineers complete required company training via CBRE’s digital platforms
- Coordinate site-specific training, mentoring (including toolbox talks), and conduct Drill training with the shift team
- Proactively foster a strong team culture
- Manage Incident Response during unplanned faults or incidents
- Administer holiday requests and maintain shift rotations (ROTA), factoring in sickness and return-to-work scenarios
- Review and update statutory and subcontractor logbooks
- Compile vendor reports and upload to the CMMS system with corrective action notes

Experience and Skillset Required

Preferred Skills:
- Manual Handling Training
- HV (High Voltage) Authorisation
- Current Wiring Regulations Certificate
- Level 3 NVQ in a related discipline
- Emergency First Aid at Work qualification
- Experience in real-time incident/fault management within high-stakes environments

Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record in a similar management position within a comparable organisation
- Strong understanding of health & safety obligations in maintenance operations
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Numeracy & literacy skills
- Demonstrable commitment to safe working habits
- High standards of integrity, personal organisation, and prioritisation
- Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team
- Strong presentation skills (role involves client-facing exposure)
- Ability to ascend/descend vertical access equipment
- Flexibility regarding working hours
- Knowledge of interacting interlinked systems (e.g., fire systems, Property Management Systems (PMS), Building Management Systems (BMS))
