Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT) – Slough

About the Opportunity
As a Data Center Technician ATR-B/B or ATR-C, you’ll develop expertise in preparing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, installing, replacing, and decommissioning equipment under the mentorship of experienced colleagues. You’ll contribute to a dynamic team focused on preparing for the future while supporting mission-critical operations for our cloud ecosystem.
The base location for this role is Slough.
Key Responsibilities
Core Technical Tasks
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting using standard procedures, quickly identifying and resolving issues with minimal disruption to customers or business operations.
- Conduct post-execution quality checks to ensure proper grounding, staging, cable management, and correct labeling as per safety protocols and Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
- Decommission hardware efficiently for simple changes, refreshes, or upgrades (e.g., memory reconfigurations, hardware rebuilds) following established work instructions.
- Follow Microsoft’s Incident Management Process (IMP) by communicating, reporting, escalating issues to the appropriate Data Center Operations teams, Technician Leads, and engineering specialists.
- Assist and provide guidance to junior technicians on challenging or complex tasks, fostering knowledge transfer.

Qualifications
Required
- Equivalent to a high school diploma or better.
- Basic technical knowledge of computer hardware and IT infrastructure.
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting IT equipment/related technologies.
Background Check Requirements
- Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud security screening, standard background checks, and ηessential compliance verifications (e.g., national security clearances, identity confirmation).
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check required at hire and every two years thereafter.
Preferred
-Job-related skills or experience in on-site consultant roles, server roles with Microsoft technologies, or physical data centre work.
- Certifications: CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) or education on Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).

Pay & Benefits Overview
The UK data centre technician base pay ranges vary by position:
- Data Center Technicians (ATR-B): Typical pay scale: £34,400–£43,300/year
- Data Center Technicians (ATR-C): Typical pay scale: £36,300–£50,100/year
