About The Role
We are collaborating with DXC Technology to connect exceptional professionals with a vital role as Data Centre Engineers. This position is based in Sevenoaks, Kent, with regular attendance required at the Maidstone site. The role involves working in a secure environment that necessitates security clearance, and therefore, applications are invited from UK nationals who hold or are willing to undergo SC clearance. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance of data center equipment, ensuring optimal operational performance. The role offers a dynamic work environment with shifts covering both day and night hours, accompanied by a generous shift allowance. Candidates must possess their own transport and be capable of traveling frequently between sites.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate should possess a basic understanding of IT operations within large organizations, with a focus on data center environments.
- Relevant qualifications include a professional degree in a technical discipline, certifications in data center operations, or related fields.
- Prior experience in data center operations, server hardware, or networking is preferred.
- Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Office applications, and general PC hardware.
- Basic networking knowledge is advantageous.
- Fluency in English and the local language (speaking, reading, and writing) is essential.
- Strong communication skills, technical orientation, and the ability to work precisely and efficiently are required.
- A valid driver’s license and own transportation are mandatory due to the travel requirements.

Responsibilities
- Visually inspecting status indicators (LEDs) on customer equipment and reporting the status accurately.
- Performing power cycling of equipment following detailed written instructions.
- Inspecting power and cabling connectivity, and ensuring all cabling is properly seated.
- Testing cable paths to meet performance standards.
- Connecting crash carts (KVMs) for diagnosis.
- Mounting media in drives during system builds or troubleshooting.
- Activating hardware controls and replacing hot-swappable components as per instructions.
- Performing system inspections, diagnosing issues, and assisting in hardware maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing customer expectations.
- Maintaining data security protocols.
- Ensuring compliance with security standards.
- Flexibility to handle unexpected problems and adapt to evolving technical challenges.
- Effective communication with clients and team members.
- A technical orientation towards server hardware and networking.
