Job Summary
Reporting to the Cluster Director, the Data Centre Manager (DCM) is responsible for the day-to-day management and successful operation of a site, including:
- Technical resource management
- Operational continuity
- Customer implementations
- Reporting
- Management of the on-site VIRTUS team and third-party contractors
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Resource

Facilities Management:
- Manage FM Provider, ensuring compliance with health & safety and corporate policies
- Operational continuity, risk management, and responsible budgeting
- Site-level procurement, overseeing liable contracts
- Support emergency operating procedures (EOPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and methods of operations (MOPs)

Asset and Capacity Management:
- Responsible for critical infrastructure asset management and lifecycle planning
- Support potential audits and maintain compliance with BMS (Business Management Systems), PMS (Property Management Systems), and fire systems
- Capacity management (power, floor space) and forecasting loadings
- Change management approval at site level

- Cabling and Equipment:
- Manage internal cabling and external carrier fibres to high standards
- Oversee equipment lifecycle, including budgeting, technical feasibility, critical spares, risk reduction, and improvement planning
Site Availability & Incident Response

Prioritise zero downtime and ensure risk analysis and mitigation remain robust

Align with customer contractual SLAs and KPIs

Part of incident response, with possible out-of-hours response duty

Third-Party Monitoring:
- Ensure FM Service Provider performance aligns with SLAs
Team Management
- Foster a positive, collaborative team environment
- Coach and manage direct reports, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
- Implement correct escalation processes for all site issues
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Validate all PPM scheduling, addressing faults and advisories efficiently
Reporting
- Assist with monthly reporting (power usage, PUE, capacity, trackers, board packs)
- Quality updates for daily operations, attending weekly/monthly service reviews, and maintenance/construction meetings
General Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and healthy workplace, adhering to company and client policies
- Maintain a visually high-standard data centre
- Fulfill any additional manager-approved requests
Hours: Monday to Friday, with escalation management on-call duty and out-of-hours coverage for urgent matters.

Essential
- Proven experience in data centre or similar critical management roles
- Demonstrated team management and ability to foster a positive work culture
- Strong process management and development in live operational environments
- Extensive incident/fault management experience in business-critical settings
- Experience with third-party supplier management under stringent SLAs
- Financial and budget management expertise
Technical Knowledge

Understanding of Health & Safety, ISO standards, BMS, PMS, fire systems

Practical knowledge of data centre installations, such as:
- Racks
- HAC (Hypothermic Air Cooling)
- Cabling and cross-connects
- Power, testing, and customer acceptance testing

Familiarity with ticket logging systems (desired: MAximo and ServiceNow)
Personal Attributes
- Attention to detail with high personal standards
- Commitment to completing tasks on time
Vetting Policy
