Data Centre Operations Manager Location: Leicestershire - Onsite Salary: Up to £65,000 depending on experience Benefits: Car Allowance, Bonus, Pension, Holiday, and many more The Role We’re looking for an experienced Data Centre Operations Manager to lead the delivery of mission-critical engineering services at Santander’s Carlton Park campus. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for managing a team of engineers and specialist contractors, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a complex data centre environment. You’ll play a key role in maintaining business-critical systems, driving service excellence, and supporting continuous improvement across the estate.

What You'll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities Lead the day-to-day operation and maintenance of data centre infrastructure, ensuring full compliance with SLA and statutory requirements Manage and develop a team of Shift Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Team Leaders Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive works, and subcontractor activities Ensure accurate maintenance records, statutory logs, and reporting systems are in place Drive a customer-focused service delivery aligned to client expectations Manage incident response, escalation, and resolution through to completion Approve permits, RAMS, and safe systems of work Conduct daily team briefings and prioritise operational activities Maintain full compliance across critical assets and systems Collaborate with wider engineering teams across the campus to ensure seamless service delivery Identify opportunities for technical improvements and innovation Manage performance, training plans, and development of the engineering team Support commercial activities including quotations, cost control, and supplier management

What We're Looking For

About You You’re a confident and technically strong leader with experience in data centre or critical environment operations. You’ll bring a strong understanding of engineering systems alongside excellent people management and stakeholder engagement skills. Essential Qualifications NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering City & Guilds, HND, or equivalent in an Engineering discipline Experience & Skills Proven experience managing engineering teams in a critical environment (Data Centre preferred) Strong working knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems, HVAC, and building services Ability to lead incident management and escalation processes Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills Commercial awareness with focus on service delivery and cost efficiency Experience managing compliance, permits, and safe systems of work What You’ll Bring A strong commitment to health & safety – putting people first A proactive approach to continuous improvement The ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams A collaborative mindset with a focus on building strong relationships Resilience and flexibility in a fast-paced, critical environment Why Join Us?
