Senior Mobile Data Core Network Engineer (Data Core)

Role Purpose
Lead some of the activities of the UK Regional Engineering Delivery Team within Data Core Engineering. You will be accountable for:
- Low-level design document creation
- Configuration and optimisation of multiple network elements of the Mobile Data Core network (e.g., SGSN, MME, AMF, SPGW, UPF, Radius, DPI, MSP, PCRF, PCF, ePDG, IWF, DNS, AAA)
- Generation, implementation and optimisation of the Single Packet Core mobile data network topology
With a focus on a specific area of competence, you will bring hands-on experience working with:
- Containerised (CNF)
- Virtualised (VNF)
You’ll lead and manage stakeholder engagement, specifically with Technology Operations and other local teams, for the implementation of network capacity, lifecycle management, service configuration (MOP activities), handover to Operations for implementation, special projects, and service impact assessments, as well as supporting during network incidents.

Drive Strategic Implementation
- Align local engineering implementation across cluster countries with the regional strategy and roadmap.
- Report progress and gaps to planning teams against network execution plans.

Design and Implementation
- Define, maintain, and refine the Low-Level Design (LLD) for Data Core networks in line with Planning Design and Dimensioning directives.
- Define and manage temporary and permanent configuration (parametrisation, licensing, environment specifics).

Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Direct the interface with regional/local Operational teams for Data Core network activities and interventions.
- Actively plan, prioritise and manage risks related to:
- Costs and risk-benefit analysis
- Project effectiveness and efficiency

Project and Incident Support
- Assist the Engineering team dealing with Data Core networks across cluster countries.
- Proactively identify improvement opportunities based on in-country capabilities and regional strategies.
- Adjust/optimise planning where enhancements are found and present clear actionable recommendations to Planners.

Hands-On Technical Leadership
- Ensure operational visibility for local Data Core networks.
- Manage cross-functional Collaboration with local on-site Operations, Commercial/Demand, and Infrastructure teams.
Requirements
Experience and Mindsets
- Deep knowledge of mobile data core architecture and protocols—preferably specialising in Ericsson & Oracle Single Packet Core and for PCF.
- End-to-end troubleshooting and problem solving, tailored for operational process & technical execution challenges.
- Strong commercial awareness for Data Core evolution and the ability to map operational requirements on technical solutions.
- Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of a logicalাধীন technical area across the cluster countries, including:
- A good understanding of key network performance metrics (network, customer satisfaction, reliability, scalability).
- Strong commercial awareness, to inspire change and adoption across key stakeholders and lead the demand side of post-sales mobilisation.
- Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships and rapid trust at all levels.
- Established cross-team visibility within Networks (Operations, Planning, Quality Measurement) and Commercial/Partnership teams.
Skills and Qualifications

- Degree in Telecommunications or related field OR suitable professional experience.
✅ Soft Skills
- Agility, problem-solving, and capacity to influence & foster teamwork while navigating operational/technical conflicts.
- Technical leadership with the ability to generate reliable, factual, and true analyses for regional stakeholders.
