Data Director

Director of Data - Logistics & Fulfilment | London | Hybrid

“This is a two-day onsite opportunity, split between our Tech Hub in Old Street and our HQ in Hatfield.”

About Ocado Technology

Ocado Technology is putting the world’s retailers online using the cloud, robotics, AI, and IoT. We develop the innovative software and systems that power Ocado.com, the world’s largest online-only grocery retailer, as well as the global Ocado Smart Platform. We champion a value-led culture of Trust, Autonomy, Craftsmanship, Collaboration, and Learn Fast to help our teams work at their very best.

About the Role

This is a strategic leadership position, sitting at the intersection of complex mathematics and physical realities.

As Director of Data – Logistics & Fulfilment, you’ll lead a high-impact cluster of four teams covering a broad spectrum of fascinating challenges, including:

  • Logistics optimisation (algorithms for complex routing solutions)
  • Applied machine learning (predictive modelling for continuous improvement of drive/drop time estimates)
  • Forecasting and demand modelling

Our research team develops algorithms that optimise real-world decisions for the world’s most advanced warehouses and delivery networks.

Your Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for the strategy and delivery of data science, ML, and operations research across Logistics and Fulfillment (including Conventional Fulfillment Centres, or CFCs). We need a leader who can take us from innovative research to production-scale impact, motivating the team to constantly exceed and surpass set limits rather than accepting conventional benchmarks.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
