Senior Data Engineer – Real-Time Decision Engine


About Ibex.ai

Ibex.ai is a fast-growing AI startup building an agentic, real-time decision engine that optimises customer interactions for measurable profit. Our platform combines:

Ibex moves quick, with minimal bureaucracy and a highly technically technical team. You’ll collaborate on solving real-world optimisation challenges for real businesses.

Our usefulness isn’t limited to sectors—though online casinos are currently a core focus—we’re expanding into broader personalisation platforms across industries.

Based in London, team operates hybrid (on-site 3 days/week).

The Role

You’ll design, build, and maintain the data pipelines that power our products and data science workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build scalable, reliable ETL pipelines from diverse data sources
  • Work closely with data scientists to productionise models and analytics workflows
  • Help architect && maintain our data infrastructure to support new products and use cases
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and improve data quality, performance, and reliability
  • Drive engineering best practices (testing, code review, documentation, scalable design)

This role offers hands-on ownership with opportunities to shape data engineering at Ibex.


Requirements

Must Highlight Experience

✅ Proven expertise in:

  • Building scalable ETL pipelines and data workflows
  • Advanced Python (production-grade optimised data processing code)
  • Efficient pandas usage (transformations, joins, aggregations, big data handling)
  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server expertise
  • Git experience in teams

✅ Cloud & Production Tools

  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (e.g. Azure, AWS)
  • AI coding assistance experience (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) for developing production-ready code

✔ Familiarity with DevOps tools (Apache Airflow, Dagster, Jenkins) ✔ Data visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI) ✔ Big data processing (e.g., PySpark) ✔ Real-time/streaming data (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) ✔ Containers & orchestration (e.g., Docker) ✔ Cloud data lakes (e.g., Azure Synapse, Snowflake)
