Data Engineer
Location: Hybrid – 1 day per fortnight in office (Wilmslow HQ) Salary: Competitive

The Role
The Citation Group are building out their data and AI capabilities to become Best in Class. As part of this evolution, we’re looking for a strong data engineer to join the Data Engineering team, collaborating with the Head of Data Engineering to:
- Build and maintain the data warehouse foundations that support all business units and new AI initiatives.
- Scale data modelling/engineering processes with robust, pragmatic solutions.
- Work closely with BI/Reporting, Data Science, AI, and Data Governance teams to implement the group-wide data warehousing strategy.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines - Manage and maintain the Group Data Warehouse - Administer data platforms - Ensure relevant technical documentation is up to date and accessible
About You
We’re looking for someone who can get hands-on and work alongside the team. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Essential Requirements
- Excellent writing and communication skills with an attention to detail - Experience writing, troubleshooting, and debugging advanced SQL queries - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, reporting, and analytical tools - Experience designing data warehouse technical architectures and infrastructure - Programming experience in Python

Preferred but Developable Skills
- Understanding of cloud computing security concepts - Experience with relational cloud-based databases (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) - Familiarity with open-source technologies (Spark, Kafka, Beam) - Good working knowledge of cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) - Experience with DBT, Delta Lake, and Databricks - Ability to work in an agile environment - Experience with AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cortex)
