Data Engineer

Contract Opportunity: eDV-Cleared Data Engineer

A leading National Security Consultancy in London

Location: Central London (on-site)

Contract Type: 12-month engagement

Rate: £680 per/day (inside IR35)

Clearance: Active Enhanced/DV clearance required


About the Role

You will design and deliver mission-critical data services for National Security clients, working across:

  • AI
  • Cybersecurity
  • Cloud computing
  • Big data
  • Digital transformation initiatives

Your work will help shape the future of national security by building and managing data pipelines that transform raw, unstructured data into high-quality, analysis-ready datasets. You'll leverage distributed computing techniques to process data at scale.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build data ingestion pipelines and orchestration tooling
  • Develop database schemas and data models for efficiency and scalability
  • Integrate and enrich data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and consistency
  • Implement ETL processes (e.g., using Apache NiFi)
  • Write secure, test-driven, and reusable code with best practices
  • Maintain and optimise data ingestion and storage architectures
  • Diagnose and resolve data issues in live environments
  • Translate business/user needs into technical requirements, supporting agile delivery
  • Apply data security controls to protect sensitive information
  • Monitor and optimise data platforms for performance and reliability

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

✔ ETL Development:

  • Proficiency in Python (or similar languages)
  • Experience with Apache Spark, NiFi, or Kafka

✔ Database Technologies:

  • Relational databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • NoSQL solutions: MongoDB, Cassandra

✔ Cloud & Data Services:

  • AWS experience (or equivalent cloud platforms)
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data tools (e.g., for storage, analytics)
