Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Querying languages e.g. SQL, R, Python
- Data modelling, ETL data pipeline tools, e.g. Azure Data Factory
- Data visualisation tools e.g. PowerBI, Qlik
- Certification in data engineering or related domains
- Demonstrable experience showing competency working with multiple, complex data sets
- Demonstrable experience showing competency working with data classification and standards
- Demonstrable experience showing competency and ability to give examples of successful, hands-on implementation of ETL processes and delivery of data pipelines.
- Demonstrable experience showing competency working in data in the public sector
- Competent ability to clean, integrate and scale data sets and pipeline, fixing problems in data sets, from low performance to bugs and outages
- Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Python, R, with any ability to work with - SQL databases
- Competent ability to produce ETL Routines to meet requirements.
- Competent ability in building, writing and executing tests to ensure data pipelines and products meet the needs of the Force
- Competent experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) for reporting and analytics purposes.
- Solid understanding of relational databases, including database design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Applied knowledge of modern data engineering tools, technologies and practices.
- Familiarity with data governance principles, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and data security best practices.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and experience with cloud-based data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse etc.)
- Understanding of the working practices of a Police Force
