Data Engineer
Data Engineer – Permanent | Nottingham, Beeston (On-site)

About the Role
The Data BI and Integration team builds and manages a self-serve data platform for various business areas. Our data engineering and products are structured around key domains, including:
- Pharmacy
- Supply Chain
- Digital
- Products
- Opticians
- (and more to come)
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build and maintain data pipelines that support critical business decisions.
- Work within a multidisciplinary squad focused on domain-specific and project-driven delivery.
- Develop and manage a self-serve data platform serving multiple business teams.
- Collaborate with the Lead Data Engineer on existing data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct and maintain data pipelines for analytics and business insights.
- Operate within a cross-functional team driving end-to-end data solutions.
- Oversee a self-serve data platform across domains like Pharmacy, Supply Chain, Digital, and Products.
- Partner with the Lead Data Engineer on ongoing pipeline development.

Requirements
Must-Haves
✔ 2+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering for analytics, data science, or similar environments. ✔ Strong proficiency in SQL and Python. ✔ Experience with large-scale data solutions on Microsoft Azure and Databricks. ✔ Expertise with Spark or distributed compute frameworks. ✔ Prior experience building and maintaining data pipelines and data warehousing systems. 🔹 Bonus: Familiarity with dimensional modeling is advantageous.
Nice-to-Haves
🔹 Exposure to BI/MI, ML/AI, or automated data engineering. 🔹 Knowledge of modern data engineering best practices. 🔹 Experience in Agile delivery teams, with comfort taking end-to-end ownership of workstreams. 🔹 Background in Retail or Pharmacy data domains.
