Data Engineer / Analyst – Contract (3 Months+)

About the Role

We are supporting a major retail reporting transformation programme and are looking for an experienced contractor to help design and deliver a new reporting capability across sales, inventory, shipping, forecasting, and supply chain data.

The programme will build a scalable retail reporting solution using Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, Dataform, and Looker, bringing together multiple retailer and operational data sources into trusted models and dashboards for commercial and planning teams.

This role will support the technical build of the reporting solution, covering data ingestion, modelling, semantic layers, and performance optimisation across the GCP stack.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and configure retailer data sources, including POS, inventory, EDI, portals, shipping, forecasting, and pricing, into Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Develop and maintain Dataform pipelines across raw, staging, and gold data layers.
  • Build and refine unified sales, inventory, and shipping data models in BigQuery.
  • Implement business logic including:
    • On-hand vs. on-order stock reconciliations
    • Weeks of Supply calculations
    • Forecast window alignment
    • Calendar-based data correlations
  • Optimise data models for Looker consumption, ensuring:
    • Performance enhancements
    • Data reconciliation consistency
    • High-quality data output
  • Collaborate closely with BI, commercial, and planning teams to translate functional requirements into efficient, scalable data structures.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
