Technical Data Analyst / Data Engineer
đź“Ť London (Hybrid) đź’° NEGOTIABLE INSIDE IR35.
We're supporting a major insurance organisation undergoing a significant data transformation programme and are looking for a Technical Data Analyst / Data Engineer to join a high-performing data team.
This is not a traditional MI, reporting or dashboarding role.
Instead, we're looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail of complex data ecosystems, investigating data at source, understanding how information flows through operational systems, and translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
You'll act as the bridge between business stakeholders, data architects and engineering teams, helping shape the future state of the organisation's data platform.
What you'll be doing:
- Investigating and analysing data across complex source systems
- Mapping data flows and understanding end-to-end data lineage
- Working closely with business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements
- Translating business needs into technical data solutions
- Collaborating with Data Engineers, Architects and Product teams
- Supporting data modelling, warehousing and platform initiatives
- Performing source system analysis and data quality investigations
- Contributing to the design and development of scalable data solutions

What we're looking for:
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience with Snowflake and dbt
- Data warehousing experience
- Data modelling and data mapping expertise
- Source system analysis and data lineage experience
- Experience working alongside Data Engineers and Data Architects
- Strong stakeholder management and business analysis capabilities
- Insurance industry experience highly desirable

Ideal background:
This role would suit someone who has worked in a technical data analysis, analytics engineering or data platform environment and enjoys understanding how data moves through operational systems.
Candidates with predominantly MI, reporting or dashboard-focused backgrounds (Power BI/Tableau) may find the role less aligned with their experience, as the focus is heavily weighted towards data architecture, modelling, mapping and platform delivery.
