About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join Moody's Digital Content & Innovations team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data engineering solutions that support Moody's next-generation digital content platform. Your expertise will help ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable data services that empower Moody's to deliver innovative content experiences to its global user base. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data pipeline development, cloud technologies, and collaborative project execution within an agile environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience working within data engineering or software development teams.
  • Proven experience designing and developing data integration and ETL pipelines from diverse data sources and formats.
  • Hands-on expertise with Apache Airflow, dbt, and Python for data pipeline orchestration and development.
  • Strong proficiency in database technologies such as Postgres SQL, DynamoDB, Snowflake, and Databricks.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies, collaborating effectively with product owners and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot and generative AI coding assistants.
  • Understanding of data engineering considerations for AI and machine learning workloads, including data quality, governance, lineage, and scalability.

Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer at Moody's, your primary focus will be on creating and maintaining highly scalable data pipelines that underpin the company's digital content platform. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines utilizing DataBricks, Snowflake, Apache Airflow, dbt (SQL), and Python within an AWS cloud environment.
  • Supporting platform optimization efforts, infrastructure enhancements, process control improvements, and system upgrades to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaborating closely with Moody's technical teams and business stakeholders throughout the design, development, and deployment phases to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Engaging with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and deliver scalable, efficient solutions that meet organizational goals.
  • Providing mentorship and knowledge sharing through code reviews, documentation, and conducting workshops to uplift team capabilities.
