Data Engineer | Manchester (Hybrid)

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer to support the ongoing development and optimisation of the organisation's Data Platform, ensuring it meets business needs for availability, performance, and data integrity.

  • Create and continuously develop the Data Platform, ensuring its availability and performance to meet business needs
  • Build data pipelines to connect APIs, files, databases, and data streams to the Data Platform
  • Manage ETL/ELT processes end-to-end, including the dimensionally modelled semantic layer
  • Define and embed data quality measures within data pipelines
  • Ensure data integrity, monitoring, and alerting are integrated into all solutions
  • Create and manage build and deployment pipelines
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective solutions and successful business outcomes
  • Work within an Agile Kanban workflow to safely code, review, test, and deploy solutions using source control

Your Experience

Our client is looking for a Data Engineer with strong Microsoft data platform experience and a passion for building scalable, high-quality data solutions.

  • Extensive hands-on experience within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, particularly Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and/or Azure SQL
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Strong experience with dimensional modelling of operational data for analytics use cases
  • Knowledge of ETL tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience using Python for scripting and automating data tasks
  • Knowledge of CI/CD approaches for Data Platforms, primarily using Azure DevOps
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, Visual Studio, and SSDT projects
  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • Experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI
