Prime Video Data Engineer – Finance Analytics Team

The Role: Finance Analytics Data Engineer

The Prime Video Finance Analytics team is looking for an experienced Data Engineer. We sit alongside:

  • Content and business finance partners, embedding within finance.
  • Serving as the single-source-of-truth metrics layer for finance and leadership.
  • Driving self-service analytics, iac and reliable ETL/ELT workflows—all while supporting strategic decisions, from content strategy to customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate across AWS technologies to deliver data products that shape Prime Video’s future:

  • Build and optimize data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and streaming data from diverse sources (traditional ETL and real-time event streams).
  • Consolidate disparate data from multiple Prime Video systems into meaningful, analytics-ready datasets.
  • Leverage big data tools such as Redshift, EMR, Spark, SNS, SQS, and Kinesis to optimize large-scale data processing.
  • Design, maintain, and automate the team’s data platform using AWS CDK for infrastructure-as-code.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate their needs into technical solutions (e.g., improved analytics, reporting, or decision tools).
  • Analyze business processes, logical data models, and relational database implementations.
  • Craft high-performance SQL queries to support reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to align data infrastructure with product needs.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Programming/scripting proficiency in modern languages like Python, Java, Scala, or Node.js.
  • Hands-on big data experience (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR).
  • Track record of building/operating distributed data systems—ETL pipelines, ingestion pipelines, and high-availability data architectures.
  • Skills in data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipeline design.
  • Understanding of distributed systems as they relate to data storage and processing.
  • Strong grasp of software engineering best practices, including:
    • Coding standards.
    • Data modeling and architecture principles.
    • Source control.
    • Continuous deployment and testing strategies.
    • Operational excellence.
  • Prior experience as a Data Engineer or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS expertise—Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, IAM roles, and permissions.
  • Ability to own end-to-end data projects from conception to deployment.
