Data Engineering & AI Analyst
Data & AI - Consumer Health
Scope: Global / Local
The Data & AI Specialist is a key contributor to the delivery of a self-serve analytics capability for the Consumer Health business. The role combines hands-on data engineering in Microsoft Fabric (or Databricks) with stakeholder engagement, data governance, and user enablement — helping build a scalable analytics platform from the ground up and ensuring it is adopted and trusted across the organisation.
What You'll Do
Build & Engineer
- Contribute to the build of a Fabric- or Databricks-based data platform from scratch — including lakehouse architecture, data pipelines (Dataflows, Notebooks, PySpark), and semantic models.
- Write and optimise SQL to structure data for analytics; design Power BI dashboards that are genuinely useful and intuitive for end users.
- Use Git/GitHub for version control of notebooks, pipeline code, and collaborative development.
Govern & Assure Quality
- Help embed data governance into the platform — access controls, lineage, metadata, and documentation.
- Build automated data quality checks across pipeline stages (bronze, silver, semantic) to catch issues before they reach users.
- Support monitoring, issue investigation, and root cause analysis with senior team members.
Engage & Enable
- Work directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements, workflows, and decision-making needs.
- Contribute to training and enablement materials that help business users self-serve through the platform.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and help build confidence in the data.
Future-Facing
- Stay current with emerging Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, and AI-enabled analytics capabilities (e.g., Copilot for Fabric, natural language querying).
- Identify opportunities to apply AI tools and automation to accelerate delivery and improve workflows.
About You
- Hands-on experience in a data analytics, data engineering, or BI role — with exposure to building or contributing to data platforms.
- Practical skills in Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake — lakehouse/table design, data pipelines, and semantic modelling.
- Solid SQL and data modelling knowledge (star schema, dimensional modelling).
- Power BI development experience — building dashboards and semantic models used by real business users.
- Experience with Git/GitHub for version control in a data or analytics context.
- Understanding of data governance and data quality practices and how to embed them into a platform.
- Strong communication skills — comfortable gathering requirements, presenting to stakeholders, and delivering training.
- A collaborative, self-driven approach — able to work independently on technical tasks while contributing to a wider team effort.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
