Data Engineering Lead

A permanent role in Milton Keynes – shaping ICAEW’s data-driven future

We empower our team through elite benefits, continuous development, and an inclusive culture that fosters growth. Join a place where your career—and contributions—can flourish.

About the Role

We’re unlocking the power of data by modernising how ICAEW ingests, models, and shares information across the organisation. This transformation will enhance analytics, reporting, and decision-making—driving efficiency across finance, membership, and strategic initiatives.

As the Data Engineering Lead, you’ll provide technical leadership to ICAEW’s data engineering team, merging hands-on engineering with team mentorship.

  • Location: Milton Keynes (office base)
  • Salary: £75,000–£85,000 per annum
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Working pattern: Hybrid

You’ll collaborate closely with the Data Analytics & Reporting team, Data Architect, Data Governance Manager, and IT colleagues to design and enforce world-class engineering standards. Our goal is data platforms, pipelines, and models that are secure, scalable, and future-proof.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll lead, mentor, and grow a small data engineering team (of two), ensuring reliable outcomes for:

  • Team leadership: Develop and inspire data engineers to deliver high-performance pipelines and architectures.
  • Project ownership: Oversee data engineering projects—in sync with ICAEW’s broader technology transformation.
  • Standards enforcement: Define and enforce best practices, patterns, and engineering discipline.
  • Architecture design: Build scalable systems for data lakes, warehouses, and integration layers using Microsoft Azure.
  • Readiness & governance: Ensure data is accessible, structured, and compliant with ICAEW’s rigorous quality and security standards.
  • Ecosystem alignment: Work closely with your peers in analytics and insights, ensuring engineering and analysis capabilities evolve together seamlessly.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
