We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Data Engineering Manager. You’ll be accountable for the full lifecycle of data technology services for their respective value stream. This includes the strategic design, build quality and service uptime metrics. You’ll govern their Value Stream data applications to Group data standards and solve complex and ambiguous problems across multiple markets. It is also imperative you’ll to drive simplification of the data technology landscape through the partnership with business to modernize strategic applications and demise non-strategic ones in line with the Data Future State Architecture (FSA). In this role you’ll: • Own the full lifecycle of value stream data engineering services (design, build, run), accountable for resilience, uptime, build quality, and operational readiness • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team, setting clear direction, coaching and mentoring, and building a strong culture of delivery standards and knowledge sharing • Drive engineering excellence and DevOps maturity, improving release frequency, reliability, automation, and observability across the service • Deliver data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, reusable data assets and consumption layers that enable standardised, trusted and scalable data use • Align delivery to the global ata strategy and target architecture, governing adherence to the Data Future State Architecture and driving simplification through retirement of non-strategic solutions • Translate business outcomes into executable delivery plans, turning requirements into clear backlogs, runbooks, and acceptance/operational criteria • Lead disciplined agile delivery, owning planning and prioritisation, and actively driving continuous improvement through reviews and retrospectives • Partner effectively across markets and functions, working with global/regional technology, business and control stakeholders to deliver optimised services for value stream needs To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements: • Expert level experience using Scala, Spark, Python, Hadoop, Control-M/Airflow, GitHub, Jenkins, CICD • Demonstratable hands-on experience of data and software engineering best practices. • Experience of managing a team of at least 5 technical FTE • Expert knowledge of Hadoop big data, data pipelines, re-usable data assets and data controls (DMOV, DUSE) • Experience and awareness of cultural differences working with colleagues across ASP, EU and US • Strong risk assessment skills to identify upcoming risks and issues to a project delivery • Awareness of data management standards such as data sharing across borders and data quality guidelines • Display a leadership complex and act as role model for all colleagues Opening up a world of opportunity Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve.
