Data Governance Consultant / Senior Manager
Robert Half | Leeds, England, United Kingdom (Hybrid)
Robert Half is supporting a leading organisation in the search for a Data Governance Consultant / Senior Manager to join a major data transformation programme. This is a hands-on role focused on establishing, embedding and maturing enterprise-wide data governance capabilities, with a particular focus on Microsoft Purview and Data Quality.
Assignment Details:
- Initial 6 month contract (strong likelihood of extension)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Location: UK Hybrid with occasional travel to Leeds
- Rate: £600p/day via FCSA Umbrella Company
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, implement and mature enterprise Data Governance frameworks and operating models
- Establish Data Ownership, Data Stewardship and governance forums across key business domains
- Lead Data Quality initiatives including KPI definition, controls, monitoring and remediation
- Implement and optimise Microsoft Purview including Data Catalogue, Business Glossary, Lineage and Metadata Management
- Define and govern Critical Data Elements (CDEs), data standards and policies
- Support data classification, retention, privacy and regulatory compliance requirements
- Partner with business, technology, architecture and engineering teams to embed governance into data platforms and processes
- Drive adoption of governance processes through stakeholder engagement, training and change management
- Produce governance reporting, metrics and maturity assessments
- Support broader Data Management and Data Transformation initiatives

Requirements:
- Proven experience delivering Data Governance programmes within large organisations
- Strong experience defining and implementing Data Governance frameworks and controls
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview
- Experience across Data Quality, Metadata Management, Data Catalogue and Data Lineage
- Strong understanding of Data Stewardship and Data Ownership models
- Experience engaging senior stakeholders across business and technology functions
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical governance solutions
- Experience within Financial Services, Insurance or other regulated industries preferred
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable:
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Platform or Databricks
- Exposure to Collibra or other governance tooling
- Understanding of DCAM, DAMA-DMBOK or Data Management best practices
- Knowledge of DORA, GDPR, Consumer Duty or other regulatory frameworks
- Consulting or professional services background
