Role Overview
MUFG is seeking a Data Governance and Controls Assistant Vice President to join their London office, offering you the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping data quality and governance across a global banking environment. What You'll Do
- Assist in maintaining robust control structures that ensure the accuracy and quality of data throughout upstream and downstream channels within the organisation.
- Support the execution of MUFG’s data governance framework by updating policies, standards, metrics, processes, tools, and architecture as directed by senior team members.
- Perform comprehensive data integrity gap analyses on applications and escalate findings promptly for resolution to maintain high standards of compliance.
- Help define and communicate business requirements related to sensitive data protection so they are integrated into operational planning and prioritisation activities.
- Gather functional requirements from business partners, execute complex queries using SQL or other tools, and prepare detailed reports as requested by stakeholders.
- Create thorough documentation for all procedures performed, ensuring transparency and audit readiness across all data governance activities.
- Conduct workforce data validation processes including promotion nominations, job code alignment against established catalogues, confidence-level scoring of changes, and escalation of issues such as classification changes or missing data.
- Assist in developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards for tracking job descriptions, governance metrics, regional mapping progress, compliance analysis, and job code reviews.
- Prepare and validate Workday EIB submissions for employee job changes or updates; conduct peer reviews to ensure submission accuracy before final case processing.
- Maintain Power Automate workflows that automate job description collection/routing tasks, manage Planner bucket automation, convert shared mailbox emails into actionable tasks, and streamline document collection flows.

What You Bring
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Analytics, or equivalent work experience is equally preferable; foundational knowledge of enterprise information management is essential.
- Proven experience in data quality assurance, validation, or analysis within banking or financial institutions is highly valued; familiarity with regulatory requirements is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for querying databases; experience tuning queries or designing relational database structures is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI dashboard development including data modelling, source management, and report publishing; familiarity with Informatica or SAS tools is beneficial.
- Experience supporting Power Automate workflows for task routing automation; ability to assist with email-to-task conversion flows or document collection processes adds value.
- Technical competence with Access databases and advanced Excel features (macros/Power Apps); exposure to AI-assisted analysis tools like Microsoft Copilot or Claude is desirable.
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Workday for report generation/data extraction/EIB preparation; experience validating workforce data processes (promotion nominations/job profile alignment) is important.
- Understanding of risk data architecture frameworks/technology solutions; experience coordinating cross-regional tasks across platforms (Workday/Anaplan/SharePoint) enhances effectiveness.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally/written; demonstrates analytical thinking/problem-solving skills under guidance while striving for continuous improvement.
- Exhibits optimism/resilience/flexibility/openness; values lifelong learning/professional development; engages inclusively/supports colleagues as subject matter resource.
