Data Governance Lead

London Hybrid, 3 days in the office | Competitive salary going up to £85k

This is a standout opportunity to shape and mature a growing data governance capability within a business investing heavily in its data transformation journey. You will take ownership of key governance and compliance initiatives, with the autonomy to implement best practices and influence how data is managed across the organisation.

The Role

You will play a pivotal role in developing and embedding data governance across the organisation, working closely with senior stakeholders in data and beyond.

  • Lead the implementation of a new data governance platform, evaluating tools such as Collibra and Informatica
  • Define and drive data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
  • Develop and embed data ownership models across business units
  • Establish and implement data contracts, driving adoption across system owners
  • Lead data lineage initiatives, mapping data flows from source systems through to reporting layers such as Power BI
  • Support data compliance activity including GDPR requests, data retention, and governance processes
  • Assess and improve overall data governance maturity against recognised frameworks
  • Collaborate closely with data and business stakeholders to drive engagement and best practice
  • Potential to take on line management responsibilities as the team grows

Your Skills and Experience

  • Strong commercial experience in data governance within a complex environment
  • Proven expertise in data lineage and data flow mapping
  • Solid understanding of data compliance and GDPR
  • Experience implementing or optimising data governance tools
  • Exposure to data contracts or similar governance frameworks is advantageous
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders across both technical and non technical teams
  • Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of key initiatives
