London Business School is seeking a Data Governance Manager to drive and embed strong, practical data governance across the School. This high-impact role sits at the core of our Data & AI Strategy, ensuring data is trusted, well-managed, accessible, and governed consistently to support:
- Teaching
- Research
- Operations
- Analytics
- AI innovation
You will:
- Operationalise and embed the LBS Data Governance Framework thoroughly across the School.
- Work closely with senior business and technology stakeholders to ensure governance is practical, scalable, and aligned with strategic priorities.
- Support Data Owners and Data Stewards to embed governance into enterprise data platforms, analytics, and AI initiatives.
- Ensure governance enables innovation rather than constraining it.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance, improvement, and adoption of the LBS Data Governance Framework and its associated policies, standards, and processes.
- Embed data governance practices consistently across:
- Data domains
- Programmes
- Initiatives
- Support the onboarding and effectiveness of Data Owners and Data Stewards.
- Collaborate with business and technology teams to integrate governance into:
- Enterprise data platforms
- Analytics delivery
- AI enablement
- Define and implement governance controls for:
- Data quality
- Metadata management
- Data ownership
- Data lifecycle management
- Ensure governance processes are measurable, scalable, and aligned with strategic objectives.
- Provide guidance on:
- Data privacy & information security
- Responsible AI principles (in collaboration with specialist teams)
- Engage with third-party suppliers and partners to ensure governance requirements are met.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to drive:
- Adoption
- Capability-building
- Continuous improvement

Who We Are Looking For
We seek a ** Data Governance Manager ** with:
- Experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, standards, or operating models.
- Deep understanding of core governance concepts, including:
- Data ownership
- Data quality
- Metadata management
- Lifecycle management
- Proven ability to:
- Influence senior stakeholders (without direct authority)
- Lead organisational change, adoption, or capability-building initiatives
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including facilitation, communication, and relationship-building.
- Strong organisational acumen and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Knowledge of:
- Data privacy laws
- Information security frameworks
- Responsible AI principles
