Data Lead

Senior or Lead Data Engineer & Data Platform Lead

LendInvest is the UK’s leading FinTech platform for property finance. Over the past 17 years, we have grown from just our two founders to a team of over 200, working to make property finance simple for everyone.

Our workplace culture values innovation, efficiency, and teamwork, helping us lend over £9 billion in mortgages, support the UK housing market, and successfully launch on the London Stock Exchange. With ambitious plans to expand our business, products, technology, and people, we’re seeking a hands-on hands-on technical leader to stabilise and transform our data foundations while shaping our long-term data strategy.

About Your Work

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this is a critical doer-leader position focused on:

  • Remediating lifecycle ingestion issues while shaping the next generation of our data platform.
  • Ideal for a current Senior or Lead Data Engineer ready to take on leadership or a Data Team Lead seeking a new challenge.

You’ll initially guide the team as a technical lead, then progress to full platform ownership, ensuring data integrity and driving confidence in data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot legacy data issues by collaborating with external delivery specialists to resolve inherited ingestion failures and hidden data mutations.
  • Oversee a complex data ecosystem, addressing outdated ingestion patterns and incrementally improving scalability, maintainability, and architectural quality.
  • Automate manual data reconciliations and implement observability, testing, and validation frameworks to detect silent data issues, enforce integrity, and boost pipeline reliability.
  • Transition from partner-led delivery to a self-sufficient internal ‘run’ model, ensuring a smooth knowledge transfer, documentation, and team integration.
  • Build and scale an internal data engineering function (initial hires: 1–2 engineers), reducing dependency on external partners.
  • Establish engineering best practices, challenge historical processes, and upskill Data Analysts to work on a governed, high-trust data foundation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
