Our Security Operations team is growing and has openings for Data Loss Prevention Specialists across Edinburgh/Glasgow/Alderley Edge. We monitor and manage potential and real data loss events in critical business areas. These are exciting opportunities to join a dynamic organisation while working with cutting-edge security tooling and technologies.
About the Role
The Data Loss Prevention Specialist will manage and enhance our data handling processes, investigate alerts, and collaborate with Cyber Security, IT, Legal, and Compliance teams to mitigate data security risks while ensuring regulatory compliance. They will drive improvements in detection capabilities and foster relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor and Investigate Security Events:
- Monitor and respond to DLP alerts and security incidents.
- Lead investigations into suspicious activity to distinguish genuine threats from false positives.
- Detect potential data leaks or unauthorised data transfers.

Incident Response & Reporting:
- Support investigations into data loss incidents.
- Document findings and propose remediation actions.
- Generate reports for security teams, management, and compliance stakeholders.

- Policy & System Management:
- Maintain and refine DLP policies and security rules.
- Work closely with business teams to design effective and practical data protection policies.
- Analyse trends in data exposure and security risks, recommending process, tool, and automation improvements.
- Stay current with emerging security threats and data protection regulations.
About You
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience in:
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Security Operations, or Cyber Security monitoring.
- Handling complex investigations, showcasing leadership abilities.
- Exposure to fraud or whistleblowing investigations. Refining detection logic or improving alert quality.
- Navigating privacy laws in work monitoring contexts.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Purview or equivalent tooling.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 security tools or cloud security platforms.
- Understanding of insider risk, digital forensics, or behavioural analytics.
- Contributing to training or prevention programs focused on data security awareness.
- Gaining relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Security+, CCSP, CISSP, Microsoft SC-400).
- SOC or operational cybersecurity environment experience is highly valued.
