Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Management Specialist to define and shape data management practices across the entire insurance value chain. This role is focused on establishing data management frameworks, governance standards, data quality practices, master data management and cataloguing capabilities across policy, claims, underwriting and customer data domains, whilst leading large-scale data transformation initiatives.

Location: London (Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite)

Daily Rate: £438 per day (In-Scope IR35 via a Hays approved umbrella company)

Contract Length: Until December 2026

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement data management practices, frameworks and operating models across the insurance value chain.
  • Establish data ownership, stewardship models, personas and governance artefacts.
  • Lead large-scale data programmes involving Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, Analytics and AI/ML initiatives.
  • Oversee delivery across policy, claims, underwriting and customer data domains.
  • Drive data governance, data quality and regulatory compliance including Solvency II and GDPR.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into effective data solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including data engineers, architects and analysts whilst managing programme risks, budgets and dependencies

Key Requirements

  • 10+ years' programme/project management experience with a strong focus on data initiatives.
  • Proven insurance industry experience covering policy, claims and underwriting domains.
  • Strong expertise in Data Management, Data Governance and Master Data Management (MDM).
  • Experience defining data management frameworks, personas, operating models and governance artefacts.
  • Strong knowledge of data quality, metadata management, data cataloguing and business glossaries.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms, ETL/ELT technologies, Power BI, Tableau and Agile/SAFe methodologies
