Data Manager | JMG Group
JMG Group is a Private Equity-backed insurance broking group based in Guiseley, West Yorkshire, with strong regional representation across the UK. As one of the top 30 brokers, we’ve grown rapidly since our MBO in 2020, placing over £350m+ in Gross Written Premium annually. Customer excellence drives our success, underpinned by our people, systems, and processes.
The Role
We’re accelerating our data strategy to support organic and acquisitive growth. This role blends technical leadership with stakeholder engagement across the Group.
Our environment: You’ll work closely with IT colleagues and wider business functions in a hands-on, outcomes-driven setting. You’ll collaborate with leadership to deliver consistent, actionable insights as we scale.

-
Data platform ownership
- Lead the design, operation, and evolution of our SQL Server data warehouse.
- Establish best practices for schema design and performance tuning in SQL Server/SSMS.
-
ETL/ELT & integration

- Ensure prompt, accurate, and comprehensive integration into group reporting, proposing improvements where needed.
-
Power BI enablement
- Own datasets, semantic models, DAX development, row-level security (RLS), gateways, and performance.
- Partner with BI Developers/Analysts to deliver automated, actionable dashboards for leadership and frontline teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
