Data Migration Manager
Hybrid Role - Data Migration Expert (2 days office based, 37.5 hours per week)
The primary purpose of this critical role is to define, own, and be accountable for all data migration activities within Biffa. With ongoing transformation programmes, the introduction of new SaaS systems, and the consolidation of legacy platforms—amplified by a busy merger & acquisition pipeline—data migration has become a top business priority.
This key technical and design role spans all business divisions and requires a strong finance background to understand data impacts, particularly supporting ERP system (Dynamics 365) loading. It involves close collaboration with the Data Architect and Product Teams (e.g., Dayforce & D365) to develop reusable migration patterns, enhance data quality, and oversee extraction, transformation, and loading processes while ensuring compliance with established methodologies and toolsets.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement the data migration strategy, including data cleansing approaches, and identify necessary technologies to optimise processes.
- Create and maintain the data migration plan, including cycles, resources, and timelines, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
- Oversee extraction processes from legacy systems, engage with stakeholders on data issues, and manage transformation & loading activities.
- Lead data analysis and profiling to identify gaps, quantify risks, and develop data quality reporting tools.
- Partner with finance teams to validate migrated data, reconcile financial records, and explain discrepancies.
- Document data issues, mappings, business rules, and risks and validate them with stakeholders.
- Conduct data due diligence and mapping sessions for merger & acquisition targets to assess data quality and completeness for valuation.
- Manage a team of data migration analysts, providing development plans and career progression support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
