Data Modeler
Data Modeler – Property Casualty Specialty Insurance

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler with 10+ years of hands-on experience designing logical and physical models for Property Casualty Specialty Insurance data projects.
Hybrid Working Arrangement
Our flexible approach means your working location will vary, blending company offices, client sites, and home—while ensuring less than 100% full-time remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain logical and physical data models aligned with business needs, ensuring data integrity for Insurance domains
- Design models based on Databricks Medallion architecture, translating requirements from:
- Underwriting
- Delegated authority
- Reinsurance
- Actuarial claims
- Finance
- Implement and uphold modeling standards, naming conventions, metadata, and documentation, collaborating closely with data analysts, data engineers, and data office associates
- Review existing models and propose simplification, standardization, and target state improvements across projects and for broader requirements
- Lead the evolution of requirements, refining and translating specifications into actionable data models for the development phase
- Ensure models accurately reflect Insurance processes and data elements before handoff to engineering teams

Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- Hands-on experience in delivering data models for PC (Property & Casualty) Specialty Insurance projects, including exposure to Lloyd’s London Market and Syndicate data structures
- Strong understanding of insurance domain concepts and proficiency with data modelling tools—particularly Erwin
- Expertise in:
- Enterprise data modelling (conceptual, logical, and physical models)
- Transactional domains with methodologies:
- Dimensional
- Star Schema
- Snowflake Schema
- Data Vault
- 3rd Normal Form (3NF)
- Experience with:
- ETL/ELT pipelines
- Data warehousing
- Advantageous skills:
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and Databricks for designing data pipelines
Technical & Methodological Skills
- Able to apply SDLC methodologies, including Agile software development lifecycles
- Proficient in collaboration and stakeholder communication with senior leaders, technical teams, and cross-functional partners
Mindset & Soft Skills
- Flexibility, curiosity, and creativity with an openness to innovative ideas
- Ability to lead change and drive model simplification for broader business impact
