Data & Operations Assistant

Data Scientist / Database Specialist (SQL Server) – Bookouture

What You’ll Be Doing

The Data team at Bookouture is responsible for maintaining and developing our various relational databases, ensuring that our data-driven publishing and marketing teams have full confidence and access to accurate and up-to-date information via innovative data visualisation.

As an integral part of the team, you’ll:

  • Take ownership of our SQL Server environment, including:
    • Verifying the accuracy of data flowing into the business and being distributed to external teams.
    • Developing new workflows to enhance system efficiency and boost performance.

Who We’m Looking For

We’re hiring a strong technical professional with:

  • A computer science background and workplace experience with relational databases as a major asset.
  • Problem-solving skills – unwilling to accept a "good enough" solution unless optimisation is possible.
  • A performance-focused mindset, with an emphasis on process speed, automation, and reliability.
  • Sharp attention to detail – with strong awareness of data quality, edge cases, and inconsistencies.
  • Self-direction – able to solve problems independently, from analysis to tested implementation.
  • Adaptability – comfortable switching between transactions, languages, and frameworks as needs evolve.
  • Outstanding communication – essential to explaining technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and keeping teams aligned.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
