A Birmingham based firm is expanding its operational presence, and Tech Pipeline is helping them manage the resulting data complexity. As a Data Operations Assistant, you will help us clean up backlogs and ensure that information moves between systems without getting stuck in manual spreadsheets or email chains. This role focus is on the practical, day to day reality of making sure software tools work the way they were intended.

About the role

In this role, you will be looking at the specific points where data goes bad. The client is dealing with a tech stack that has outgrown their current internal processes, leading to what we call the broken middle. This means routing rules are failing, approval chains are getting lost in inboxes, and finance teams are forced to reconcile numbers by hand. This is a fully remote position where you will support our technical leads by performing the detailed work required to stabilize these systems. You will not be building abstract frameworks: you will be looking at logs, identifying why a record did not update, and helping us build a more reliable source of truth.

What you will be doing

  • Reviewing daily data logs to identify where information failed to transfer between internal systems.
  • Updating existing Standard Operating Procedures based on changes we make to system routing rules.
  • Manually reconciling records during transition phases to ensure the source of truth remains accurate.
  • Tracing specific data errors back to the point of origin to determine if the cause is human or technical.
  • Communicating with operators to document where they encounter friction in their digital workflows.
  • Entering and validating structured data to clear out legacy backlogs for the client.
  • Monitoring the status of automated approval chains and flagging requests that have stalled.
  • Compiling simple reports that highlight specific areas where data drift is occurring most frequently.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Working at Tech Pipeline

We believe in getting close to the technical reality of how work moves. At Tech Pipeline, we avoid long strategy sessions and instead focus on fixing the specific routing rules or integration gaps that cause friction for our clients. Our communication style is honest and direct. We rely heavily on written documentation rather than frequent video calls, giving everyone on the team the space to do their best work without interruption. We stay through the first month of live operation to make sure our fixes stick, and we value team members who take pride in handing over a system that is cleaner and more efficient than how they found it.
