I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You Will Do
- Own data access across the product lifecycle by pulling, shaping, and delivering actionable data in the format needed by product, sales, and client service teams.

- Partner with data engineers to manage routine ingestion tasks and use AI tools like Cursor and Claude to rapidly translate business logic into complex database queries.
The ideal candidate
- Possesses 2–4 years of experience in data operations, BI, or revenue ops, with a service-oriented mindset and a pride in being the reliable go-to for data needs.
- Demonstrates fluency in SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB/Elasticsearch), including the ability to read nested JSON structures and audit AI-generated code for safety and optimization.
- Exhibits a sophisticated AI-first approach, with experience prototyping or building with tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or agentic workflows rather than just using basic chat interfaces.
