About the team:
Helios- Helios is Elsevier’s enterprise technology data platform, providing a unified, trusted view of systems, assets, and operational data to enable smarter, data-driven decisions at scale. It underpins critical capabilities across cost optimisation, resilience, and governance, with a focus on automation and self-service insights.
Data & Analytics- The Data & Analytics team turns complex operational data into clear, actionable insights that drive performance and decision-making across Technology. With a growing focus on GenAI and advanced analytics, the team is evolving towards delivering high-impact, insight-led capabilities that shape strategic outcome.
About the role:
We are looking for a senior leader to shape and lead our operational data platform and analytics capability across Technology Infrastructure and Operations (TIO). This role combines ownership of our Helios operational data platform (Snowflake-based) and our Analytics & Insights function (Tableau/Power BI), bringing them together into a single, high-performing data ecosystem. You will be responsible for turning complex operational data into trusted, scalable data products and actionable insights that improve decision-making across our technology organization.
Requirements : Leadership & Impact Experience leading data engineer and/or analytics teams at scale Proven ability to operate as a strategic partner to senior stakeholders Track record of delivering measurable business impact through data. Data & Technology Expertise Strong understanding of modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, DBT, cloud-based pipelines) Experience with data modelling, warehousing, and large-scale data ecosystems Familiarity with analytics and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau) Understanding AI from a team adoption and value-add angle within the existing toolset Analytics & Business Insight Ability to define KPIs, metrics, and analytical frameworks Experience translating data into clear business insights and recommendations Operating Model & Delivery Experience building or evolving data operating models Strong delivery focus, with the ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholders

Responsibilities:-
Lead a Unified Data Function Lead and develop Data Engineering and Analytics & Insights teams Create a clear operating model across data platforms, data products, and analytics Build a high-performing, multidisciplinary team with strong engineering and analytical capabilities Evolve the Helios Data Platform Drive the maturation of a modern data platform spanning: Data ingestion and integration Core data models (including CMDB / asset registry) Curated data layers for reporting and analytics Ensure high standards in data quality, governance, lineage, and reliability Enable self-service and API-driven access to trusted data
Deliver High-Impact Analytics and Insights Lead the delivery of insight-driven dashboards and analytics aligned to strategic priorities Move the organization from reactive reporting to proactive, decision-focused insights Partner with stakeholders across Technology to define meaningful metrics and outcomes Bring AI thought leadership to accelerate the adoption of new technology to accelerate and simplify putting data into the hands of our stakeholders Drive Data-Informed Decision Making Act as a senior thought partner to technology and business leaders Embed a culture of data-driven decision-making Translate complex data into clear, actionable narratives Lead our TIO Data Governance organization
Improve Delivery and Ways of Working Establish effective prioritization, intake, and roadmap processes through existing product and technology leaders in the team Align platform and analytics delivery to business value Balance innovation, strategic initiatives, and operational reliability
