Data Platform Engineer (Microsoft Fabric & AI)

About Blackpool and The Fylde College

At Blackpool and The Fylde College, we are more than an education provider – we’re a driving force for opportunity, innovation, and community growth. As one of the UK’s leading further education colleges and an exempt charity, we deliver high-quality technical and professional education that transforms lives and supports regional prosperity. With over 12,500 students and around 1,000 colleagues, we are proud to be an anchor institution driving social mobility, inclusion, and success.

The Role

We’re seeking a forward-thinking and technically skilled Data Platform Engineer (Microsoft Fabric & AI) to own and evolve B&FC’s modern data platform. You’ll play a key role in designing, building, and optimising a trusted, governed data environment that underpins reporting, automation, and AI-driven insights across the organisation. This is an opportunity to shape how data is managed, consumed, and leveraged to drive smarter decision-making and innovation.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Own and develop the Microsoft Fabric platform architecture, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable data ingestion, transformation, and availability.
  • Design and maintain high-quality data pipelines and curated datasets, enabling consistent, governed data models for reporting and analytics.
  • Establish and enforce data standards, definitions, and quality controls to ensure accuracy, consistency, and trust in organisational data.
  • Drive automation and performance optimisation across the platform, improving efficiency, scalability, and cost management.
  • Enable AI-driven use cases and real-time insights, working with stakeholders to unlock predictive, assistive, and Copilot-powered capabilities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
