Data Platform Engineering Specialist (SAP)
Data Platform Specialist – Cadent Gas
We’re exciting to launch this new role within our SAPData & Analytics (D&A) team.
About the Role
As a Data Platform Specialist at Cadent, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and operating our enterprise-scale SAP data platforms. Your responsibilities will include ensuring these platforms are secure, scalable, and ready to support the organisation’s evolving data needs—covering regulatory reporting, operational insight, and advanced analytics.
This is a hands-on specialist role working closely with data engineers, architects, and analysts to deliver reusable, enterprise-level data products. You’ll blend deep SAP technical expertise with a collaborative mindset, driving adoption of new technologies while maintaining strong data governance, security, and compliance standards.
What You’ll Focus On
-
Enterprise Data Impact: Design and operate SAP data platforms that underpin critical reporting (regulatory, operational, and analytics).
-
Modern SAP Technologies: Develop expertise in SAP Datasphere, SAP Business Data Cloud, SAP Analytics Cloud, BW/4HANA, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
-
End-to-End Platform Ownership: Support the entire lifecycle of the data platform, from design and integration to administration and operational management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
