JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Enterprise Systems Manager, the Data Platform Manager will be accountable for the strategy, governance, performance and continuous development of CWG’s enterprise data platform. The role will ensure that Microsoft Fabric and associated data technologies provide trusted, secure, scalable and well-governed data capabilities that support business intelligence, analytics, digital products, enterprise applications and future AI-enabled opportunities.

The post holder will own the strategic roadmap for the enterprise data platform, defining the standards, architectures, operating model and governance frameworks required to manage data as a business asset.

Working closely with business stakeholders, Enterprise Systems, Digital and Data Engineering, Information Security, Architecture, Infrastructure and external partners, the role will ensure data is ingested, integrated, modelled and made available in a controlled, consistent and reusable way.

This is a technical leadership role within the Technology Department, responsible for enabling better decision-making, improving data quality, reducing duplication and ensuring data platform investment delivers measurable value to CWG.

The role will balance strategic ownership with strong technical understanding, providing clear direction on platform design, service standards, data governance, vendor engagement and the safe adoption of modern data capabilities across the organisation.

Salary: £95,000-£105,000 (depending on experience)

Working Pattern: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day working remote)

Closing Date: Sunday 26th July (subject to application response)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and maintain the strategic roadmap for CWG’s enterprise data platform, ensuring Microsoft Fabric and associated technologies are aligned to business priorities, enterprise architecture and long-term digital objectives.
  • Define, implement and continuously improve enterprise data platform standards, patterns and principles covering architecture, governance, data quality, metadata, semantic consistency, reuse and service operation.
  • Act as the primary technology owner for the enterprise data platform, ensuring services are secure, scalable, resilient, supportable and fit for current and future business requirements.
  • Establish and maintain data governance frameworks in partnership with business owners, Information Security and Technology teams, ensuring data ownership, access controls, quality, lineage, retention and compliance obligations are clearly defined and managed.
  • Work with Enterprise Systems, Digital and Data Engineering and business stakeholders to ensure data from core platforms and operational systems is integrated in a controlled, reusable and business-aligned way.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics and data product requirements, challenge demand constructively and ensure platform activity is prioritised against business value, risk and strategic importance.
  • Provide platform ownership, standards and technical assurance for Microsoft Fabric and associated data services, ensuring architecture, workspace management, performance, administration and operational controls are clearly defined and aligned with the Data Engineering team’s delivery responsibilities.
  • Ensure enterprise data models and shared datasets are designed to support trusted business intelligence, self-service analytics, automation, digital products and future AI use cases.
  • Manage platform risks, issues, dependencies and technical debt, ensuring appropriate controls, remediation plans and escalation routes are in place.
  • Manage vendor, partner and Microsoft relationships where required, ensuring suppliers are held to account for delivery quality, service performance, roadmap alignment, commercial value and adherence to CWG standards.
  • Develop and maintain management information on platform health, usage, performance, data quality, delivery progress, risks, adoption and benefits realised from data platform investment.
  • Support business cases, investment proposals and technology governance submissions relating to data platform capability, tooling, licensing, capacity, security or material platform change.
  • Provide platform-level guidance, review and assurance across Technology to ensure data solutions align with agreed standards, remain supportable and avoid unnecessary duplication of capability.
  • Ensure the enterprise data platform operates in line with CWG policies, Information Security standards, cyber security requirements, data protection obligations and relevant legislative compliance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
