Senior Data Project Manager

Location: London (2 days per week on-site) Contract Type: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract (with strong potential for extension) Interview Process: Immediate Interviews

We're supporting a leading financial services organisation on a critical data transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Senior Data Project Manager to join the team.

This is an outstanding opportunity to lead high-impact data initiatives within a heavily regulated environment, driving governance, compliance, and regulatory-focused projects while managing a team of skilled data professionals.


The Role

As the Data Project Manager, you will:

  • Take ownership of key data programmes, ensuring successful delivery across data governance, regulatory compliance, and enterprise data management initiatives.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.
  • Lead a team of 6 Data Engineers to deliver strategic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of data-focused projects and programmes within a regulated environment.
  • Drive data governance initiatives, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Manage compliance and regulatory workstreams, mitigating risks and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Oversee and support a team of 6 Data Engineers, providing leadership and direction through the project lifecycle.
  • Engage with business, technology, risk, and compliance stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Monitor project milestones, budgets, risks, dependencies, and reporting to senior leadership.

Required Experience

  • Proven track record delivering large-scale data projects in Financial Services, Banking, or other regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Management, and Regulatory Compliance frameworks.
  • Prior experience managing technical data teams, ideally including Data Engineers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches).
