Location: Goodwood


Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd is looking for a dedicated Data Protection Manager to join its Governance team, ensuring the company safeguards its reputation as a global luxury brand by fostering excellence in Data Privacy, Information Protection, and Trade Compliance. This critical role drives a collaborative approach to governance, balancing risk mitigation with enabling business innovation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Governance Systems

    • Maintain and improve global and local compliance frameworks across Data Privacy, Information Protection, and Trade Compliance.
    • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements while enabling efficient business operations.
  • Data Protection Subject Matter Expert (SME)

    • Act as the trusted advisor for privacy-related matters across Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
    • Embed privacy by design and default into business processes.
  • Compliance Culture & Awareness

    • Develop and deliver training, communications, and briefings to foster a proactive compliance culture.
    • Promote privacy awareness at all organizational levels.
  • Risk & Compliance Governance

    • Conduct risk assessments, spot checks, and control effectiveness reviews.
    • Generate management reports for the local Board and central functions.
    • Monitor compliance using measurement frameworks.
  • Champion Proactive Compliance

    • Lead and inspire a global network of compliance champions.
    • Align efforts with organizational risks while supporting innovation.
  • Regulatory & Business Risk Management

    • Stay ahead of emerging regulatory trends and evaluate current practices.
    • Implement innovative, compliant business solutions.

  • Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Compliance, Legal, Information Protection, Export Control, and Internal Audit.
    • Partner with external suppliers, dealerships, governments, and regulators on agreements and inquiries.
  • Balancing Innovation & Compliance

    • Drive a collaborative governance approach, ensuring compliance supports—not stifles—innovation.

Key Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • **Depth in Data Privacy **—**proven expertise in UK GDPR & PECR, with the ability to translate legal requirements into practical, actionable guidance.
  • Professional Privacy Certification (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM)—mandatory.
  • International Work Environment—preferably within a global or automotive industry.
  • Experience executing complex privacy assessments, including:
    • Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
    • Trade Impact Assessments (TIAs)
    • Data Protection Agreements (DPAs) & Supplier Assessments (DSAs)
    • Terms of Management (ToMs) & Risk of Processing Activities (RoPAs)
  • Stakeholder Influence & Communication—ability to communicate complex privacy issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, and networking skills with a collaborative mindset.

Preferred & Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of global privacy regulations (e.g., LGPD, CCPA, DPD-enriched AESG standards).
  • IT systems & architecture expertise, particularly data management.
    • ISO 27001, NIST, or other IT security certificates—advantageous.
  • Additional qualifications in Information Security or International Trade.
  • Emerging Tech Awareness—familiarity with AI governance and evolving compliance frameworks.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to interpret and present data succinctly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills).
