Data Protection Officer

Immediate Impact Required
A leading international financial services & insurance organisation is seeking an experienced Interim Data Protection Officer to join its Governance function on an initial contract basis.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a seasoned privacy professional who can quickly establish credibility with stakeholders, provide strategic oversight of global data protection obligations, and lead ongoing privacy and regulatory initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will be available within one month's notice (or sooner) and possess the ability to hit the ground running in a complex, regulated environment.

Key Duties
- Ensure compliance with key data protection regulations across the UK & other international jurisdictions.
- Lead the organisation's data protection framework and privacy strategy.
- Provide regulatory & commercial advice to senior leadership teams.
- Manage data protection incidents, breaches, regulatory engagement and remediation activities.
- Review and strengthen third-party and vendor data protection controls.
- Advise on cross-border data transfers and international privacy requirements.
- Deliver privacy training & foster a strong data protection culture across the business.

Experience
- Extensive experience in data protection, privacy and regulatory compliance within insurance.
- Proven experience operating as a Data Protection Officer or senior privacy leader.
- Strong working knowledge of GDPR and other international privacy frameworks.
- Relevant professional qualification such as CIPP/E and/or CIPM.
- Confident stakeholder manager with the ability to influence at executive and Board level.
