I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You
You are a true business developer who enjoys opening doors, creating opportunities and turning conversations into long-term commercial partnerships. You're comfortable operating at senior stakeholder level and have the persistence, resilience and patience needed to manage longer sales cycles.
Naturally curious, you enjoy understanding new markets, identifying opportunities and translating technical products into clear commercial value. Whether your background is in data, information services, membership organisations, GIS, SaaS, EdTech or professional services, you're motivated by winning new business rather than managing existing accounts.
The Role
This is a strategic new business position focused on growing revenue through enterprise and licensing sales. You'll be responsible for building and managing a pipeline of opportunities, leading the sales process from prospecting through to contract negotiation and working closely with specialist product and technical teams to deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
