Data Science Lead (AI)
Lead Data Scientist / AI Lead
We are seeking a technically-grounded Lead Data Scientist / AI Lead to lead the AI transformation of a global, multi-billion dollar professional Legal services leader. This isn't a traditional "statistical" data science role; it is a builder’s role focused on engineering production-ready AI products.
The organisation is currently investing tens of millions of pounds into its technology stack to redefine how its global workforce delivers high-stakes services. You will lead a high-performing team to commercialize business ideas into functional products using Large Language Models (LLMs), NLP, and Agentic workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development of document-heavy AI applications, utilizing RAG LLM orchestration, and autonomous agents to navigate decades of complex case data.
- Move beyond POC's to ship scalable, production-grade tools that directly impact the firm’s commercial success.
- Act as the technical bridge between advanced engineering and high-level stakeholders (including legal and financial partners), requiring an ability to explain complex tech in a service-based environment.
- Mentor and guide a team of engineers while remaining hands-on with Python-based technical challenges and architectural decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
