The Role
National Grid is hiring a Data Science Manager to lead and develop our Data Science team. Based at our Warwick office with hybrid working (1–2 days per week on-site), you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering advanced data science solutions that support critical operations across our enterprise, driving innovation, scalability, and meaningful insights.

Skills & Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Lead and inspire a talented team of Data Scientists, fostering skill growth and delivering high-impact projects across the organisation.
- Build advanced analytics and AI solutions, applying machine learning, statistical modelling, forecasting, and simulations to solve real-world challenges.
- Unlock data insights by integrating multiple sources and formats, ensuring robust datasets for decision-making.
- Oversee enterprise-wide projects, collaborating across the UK and US, including Gas, Electric, and support functions.
- Stay curious and innovative, exploring new data-focused technologies and methodologies to shape energy’s future.

About You
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in Data Science, ideallywithin the utility or energy sector.
- Leadership experience mentoring Data Scientists, driving high-impact outcomes.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, bridging technical jargon to business strategies.
- Technical fluency in:
- Statistics, machine learning, and generative AI.
- Python and SQL programming for scalable solutions.
- Cloud environments (preferably Azure experience).
- Cloud platforms (Linux/Windows).
- Full lifecycle expertise in:
- Data Science project/product delivery.
- Statistical, modelling, and AI techniques.
- Regulated utility environments.
- Experimental design and hypothesis-driven workflows.
- Visualisation skills, preferably using Power BI.
- Familiarity with GIS tools, such as ArcGIS.
What You’ll Get
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive Salary: £78,000 – £91,000 per annum (based on capability and experience).
- Annual Performance Incentive: Up to 30% of eligible earnings.

Location & Working Arrangements
- Full-time role, hybrid working (1–2 days/week at NG House, Warwick).
- approx. 1–2 days per week on-site as required by business needs.
