About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Team Lead for Data Science - Logistics Estimations to join our team. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee the development and deployment of predictive models that improve delivery time estimations across our global network. Your primary responsibility will be to provide vision, strategic oversight, and technical guidance to a team of talented Data Scientists specializing in ETA prediction and logistics estimations. You will play a pivotal role in translating complex business challenges into data-driven solutions, enhancing the accuracy of delivery time models, and driving impactful business outcomes. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to ensure our logistics models meet the high standards of accuracy and reliability required for our operations.

  • A Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven experience in leadership and people management, with a track record of mentoring and developing Data Scientists.
  • Hands-on experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models within a corporate environment.
  • Strong expertise in data science methodologies, with familiarity in logistics, geospatial analysis, ETA prediction, and routing problems. Experience with deep learning is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform root-cause analysis on complex model performance issues and translate findings into actionable solutions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the model lifecycle, including testing, monitoring, and deployment best practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and scale a high-performing team of Data Scientists, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
  • Define and oversee the development of logistics estimation solutions, ensuring alignment with company objectives and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Machine Learning teams to prioritize initiatives based on business impact and feasibility.
  • Drive continuous improvement of ETA models by analyzing operational friction points such as courier re-assignments and restaurant delays, and translating insights into model enhancements.
  • Translate root-cause analysis into strategic plans for feature development, model updates, or new predictive solutions.
  • Communicate complex data insights and model performance metrics to senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams, facilitating data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with Machine Learning Engineers to ensure robust deployment and scaling of predictive models in production environments.
  • Maintain high standards for model validation, testing, and monitoring, ensuring models are accurate, reliable, and compliant with best practices.
